Job growth is keeping pace with the massive influx of people moving to Central Texas.
The Austin-Round Rock area's unadjusted unemployment rate held steady at 3.1 percent in March, even as the labor force grew by nearly 5,000 people.
Austin-area companies added 3,698 jobs last month; at the same time, the labor force grew to 1,096,521 people, up from from 1,091,927 in February, according to preliminary figures from the Texas Workforce Commission.
Austin's unemployment rate is the second best in the state, trailing the Amarillo area at 3 percent but ahead of the Lubbock area at 3.3 percent.
Texas' seasonally adjusted unemployment rate remained at 4.3 percent in March, the same as the revised rate for February and down from 4.4 percent in March 2015. Go here to see the announcement from the Texas Workforce Commission.
